Linus has released the next development kernel, version 2.1.130, also known as the 'basted turkey release'.

I've made some updates to the docs on compiling a kernel to reflect IDE performance in the recent kernels and various other changes.

Linus has released 2.1.129. You can read his comments on it, 2.2 can't be far away.

RedHat has released two security advisories. The first involves sysklogd and all versions of RedHat. The second relates to Samba and is a only problem with RedHat 5.2. Updates are available from updates.redhat.com.

Update: Samba packages for older releases of RedHat may also be vulnerable. Everybody is advised to upgrade to the latest RPMs.

Kernel version 2.0.36 has been released. You can get it from ftp.kernel.org , mirrors may take a while to update. November 14th 1998
RedHat has placed a new ramdisk image file in the Linux/Alpha 5.2 errata. For those of you receiving a SIG11 when selecting packages during installation you should download the updated image from RedHat.

Kernel 2.1.127 has been released.

I've received word that the azstarnet site will no longer be updated. So I have started moving the various FAQs and HOWTOs over to alphalinux.org. They have yet to be updated but that will take place over the next few weeks.

The new look to alphalinux.org seems to be nearing completion. Hopefully within a few days things will be converted over.

RedHat has announced the release of RedHat version 5.2 for Alpha, Intel and SPARC.
