And dgemm runs about 10MFlops faster than yesterday's version(about 855 to 865MFlops, 21164A, 600MHz, size is 1000x1000 to 3000x3000). I'll put at:

  From Rick Niles:

Here at NASA as well as in most the engineering world we use Matlab extensively for analysis work. MathWorks the company that makes Matlab was one of the very first commerical vendors to add support for Linux/i386. Now they they say they'd probably add support for Linux/Alpha if enough people indicate that they want it. They already have support for Tru64 Unix on Alpha so it shouldn't be a difficult port. Let's get Matlab running on both the best OS AND the fastest processor at once. Please write to them. Refer to techinical solution #4804, support for Linux on Alpha. Please make sure to be nice and thank them for supporting Linux/i386. If you really want to make a point you might even try calling them 508-647-7000.

AlphaLinux.org to be powered by an AS1200.

With much thanks to Compaq the AlphaLinux.org website will soon be powered by an AlphaServer 1200. This is the second large hardware donation Compaq has made to the Linux community, since the merger of Digital.

The ALO will be utilizing this new system to it's fullest potential. We will be introducing an online real-time web interface for ray tracing and fractal generation to demonstrate the speed of the system and compare render times to other architectures and systems.
