I did it currently the fdisk shows the following table.
size offset fstype cyl
a: xxx xxx swap xxx
b: xxx xxx ext2 xxx
c: xxx xxx ext2 xxx
d: xxx xxx ext2 xxx
I think c: and d: correspond to /dev/sda3 and /dev/sda4 and performing mke2fs
does not give the result.
one more thing there is raid in the system and it shows the two disks as one
single one can that cause any problem.
