That is true. But there is a basic difference between 32/64 bit problems
and hardware that is dependant on specific software that is not availble.

There are PCI modems that use serial chips connected to modem hardware
much like the ISA devices of old. These can be made to work with the
available resources. Modems that require special DSP code to run on the
main system CPU are MUCH harder to get to work.

OH yah gotta love it. If it weren't for open source I would have to work
on M$ systems or possibly take up plumbing.
