If you want you can buy a new one but the AWE64 should work with linux
just fine. As this is as plug and play adapter you should install
isapnp first and configure the adapter. After that sndconfig should
find the card without problems.

Sorry, NT is unknown terrain to me... it migth have soemting to do
with plug and play as well. Anyway a NT mailing list should serve you
better.
