I have recently bought Northern Linux from Harddata.com
and am having problems getting the installation to take off on my
Alpha server 800.

I created a generic boot/root disk and am able to get
the boot string

boot dva0 -fi vmlinux.gz -fl root=/dev/fd0

to boot somewhat.. I get the prompt to put in the ram disk,
and then the machine starts reading it and then sends me
back to the SRM prompt ('>>>') with a CPU halted
Error code 5 message.

I have not been able to get this to boot from the CD at all.
Any help is appreciated.

Harddata suggested that maybe my SCSI is not terminated
properly or something but it appears to work in windows NT.
I am removing the 2gig drive that NT resides on when I want to
install linux but it is still not wanting to work with the drive in..

I also read somewhere (about 2 or 3 months ago) that the
tape drive installed could be a problem so I have unplugged power to
that... and same results..

ANY help is appreciated even if you just say "I feel for ya dude":)
