what happens if I use one of this scsi-backplane connector that connect
directly to the internal wide scsi cable, not at the end of the bus, and
make one more external connector, then I can put there my tape without
terminator. I'm right?

I have that same problem right now. I have a Seagate Elite 47gig external
UW drive on my PWS433a and added a Winchester 4mm DAT which is a narrow
device. The cable I am using is a 68 --> 50 pin centronics and I have a
terminator plug on the tape drive since it's at the end of the chain. When
I power up I get an instant error on the tape drive but the machine stills
manages to boot after a little while.
