Thanks for all the advice.
It turns out that the console had been reset to serial (which is odd since
I had rebooted the day before and it had come up to the graphics console).
To reset things, I just hooked my laptop up to the serial port (via
minicom) and did
P00>> set console graphics
P00>> init
I was up and running again in no time!
