There is no such release as 2.95.4. You might be thinking of 2.95.3, which is
basically 2.95 + bugfixes.

3.0 will generally be better than its predecessors (especially egcs) even though
it is not considered a performance release. BTW the current hopeful thinking is
that 3.0 will be released sometime in June.

3.0 has many, many improvements for C++. Consider giving it a try along with
ccc.
