Isn't gcc 2.96 / 3.0 rapidly closing in on ccc in terms of performance?
Not too long ago I remember a post from Matt Wilson describing the speed
of some binaries produced by gcc 2.96 (don't know if that was the version
bundled with RH 7.0 or the update) as on par with ccc, and in some cases
even slightly faster.
