Kernel compiling resources

One thing that I would like to put together would be a list of kernel
choices for common alphas. For instance, which modules to compile for
sound on a multia, or which modules support the built in ethernet on
(insert your favorite alpha here). This is pretty important with things
like the PC164, the LX and SX, which all have slight little quirks in
kernel compilation that would get the most out of them.

I've been told that you should enable PCI quirks for my PC 164. That was
great, I would have never known if somone hadn't msged me off the list.
I"m sure there are a few tidbits like that we can throw together, and then
we can add a page to ALO?

I'll start off

Things to remember when compiling your kernel on a Multia (UDB)
With a Multia (that cheap cheap old old alpha)

Use the "Microsoft Sound" module
Do not compile in any MIDI support
IRQ = 9
DMA = 3
I/O = 530

The scsi adapter is an NCR 53c810
The ethernet usually DEC 21040 10BaseT
