Need advice from an expert

Subject: Need advice from an expert

Folks,

I've a got a problem with a recently acquired node for our Beowulf. When I
type "vi", I get the following:

Vim: Caught deadly signal SEGV
Vim: Finished.

I have no clue how even to start debugging something this fundamental. I've
attached extracts from "dmesg" and "uname -a" in the hope that an expert
might see something obvious. Thanks in advance!
