FYI (since I have a PWS 500au also): So far as I know, if you have an adaptec 2940*UW driver installed, you cannot use SRM to use Linux. You have no option but to go
through AlphaBIOS using Milo, and thence to the CD. The reason is that SRM does not recognize the 2940UW properly, and as a result, although it *appears* to load or
start correctly, SRM will never be able to match your actual drives with what it thinks are your actual drives. To my knowledge, there's no solution for this problem. I don't
believe there's an SRM upgrade that handles the 2940uw versions, but hey, it was a while back when I went through this. I can forward the mails if you want.
