Trouble installing 7.0 on PWS 500a

Subject: Trouble installing 7.0 on PWS 500a

I am trying to install 7.0 on a pws500a. I have CD's burned with
downloaded image files, and according to other machines the directory
structures are properly written to the CD's.

I'm forced to install from a boot floppy and ramdisk via SRM. In my
attempts to boot from the first CD, the boot sector was recognized but
the CD could not be subsequently read. Anyway, I get to the text mode
installation screens, but once I select "Local CDROM" in the
Installation Method screen, I get an error:

"I could not find a Red Hat Linux CDROM in any of your CDROM drives.
Please insert the Red Hat CD and press OK to retry"

The CD is present. Furthermore, my CDROM drive is locked and I can't open
it to retrieve the CD without rebooting. I know that the correct
directory structure is present on the CD and that all the files are
probably there. Also, the CDROM drive works properly under an existing
version of Linux (6.1, I believe).

Please help. I checked the archives and didn't see anything to help.
