Yes. When I first got my 500 MHz Miata, the L3 cache didn't work: at
the factory somebody had plugged a cache for 433 MHz systems into it!
A guy from Digital came around and changed it...

Dunno if 600 MHz is different again, though. BTW, is there any source of
cheap 600 MHz 21164A chips these days?
