Red Hat install problems

I am using alphabios and doing a cdrom install. When I enter
boot scd0:/kernels/generic.gz root=/dev/scd0 text expert linux boots but ends at the following:

VFS:MOUNTED ROOT (ISO9660 FILESYSTEM) readonly
Freeing unused kernel memory:200k freed
Warning: unable to open an initial console

Can anyone help me
