vga console gone after reboot

Hi again,

I just recompiled 2.2.1 after rebooting (which it did just fine) my consol
that is plugged into the video card is gone. When I try a startx I get an
'operation not supported by device'. Any idea what option is missing?
I've looked and I support vga consol.
