Care to quote a difference between 4 vs 8 DIMM's?
Did you use the same total amount of memory on the
runs? (eg., 8 128MB vs 4 256MB for example) Changing
the total could easily make some difference due to file
caching behavior.
I've got systems with 4 256MB vs 8 128MB DIMM's and
the 4 256MB DIMM's are no worse than the ones with 8
128MB DIMM's on my own codes.
