At this moment yes. Check
ftp://ftp.*.kernel.org/linux/kernel/people/andrea/patches/v2.2/
and search for a fitting 'bigmem' patch. You may need 'mm-fix'
before that as well.
You may be better off with 2.2.17-pre3. In a rush to close security
bugs some "features" were added to 2.2.16. :-)
