Hello,
I tried to install my own kernel on my linux system (I am new to the
alpha-arch; know only i386-linux).
Configuring was no problem; but how can I build the kernel itself?
There is no make zImage or make bzImage .
I typed make, but after that I did not find any kernel at
arch/alpha/somewhere...
What did I compile? :-)
What I found was
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 589582 Jun 4 20:00
/boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36-jensen.deb
-rw-r--r-- 2 root root 589582 Jun 4 20:00 /vmlinuz
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2521114 Jun 6 03:57
/usr/src/linux-2.2.15/vmlinux
The first 2 files are the same (diff shows no differences); which one is
accessed by aboot ? ( 0/a )
uname shows kernel version 2.2.15 ... A typo in the image? (jensen5.img
from Sebastian).
Is the 2.5mb file vmlinux my new kernel? I can hardly believe this.
I did not find any docu about kernel-compiling on alpha. Any hint is
appreciated.
