I have a similar system (SX164 with MilleniumII and 128Mb)

I have not had a problem with this - cursor dissappears when I start
typing and reappears when I move the mouse as it should - Xserver?

... and then some! I always end up with one on the desktop, which I have
yet to track down.

Okay... I sorted this by recompiling the kernel - I am fairly sure it is
to do with the fontserver, but recompilation with no modules seems to
have fixed this problem. There is probably a better solution.

Not tried.. don't use.

Yeah! What is all that about? I think it might have to do with the 64bit
alignment - check out your /var/log/messages for un-aligned trap messages.
I think somebody has been bad in coding ping - I guess this is not serious
and will be patched soon (hint hint RedHat).
I must say I am impressed with the gnome integration - it even appears on
my UDB to which the window manager is exported! If I have one complaint it
is that my UDB has only 12Mb of RAM and even with _only_ the X server
running and a display exported from my SX it is eating into 16Mb of swap!
