IRDA and Alpha?

Hello!
I just purchased an IRDA adapter card for my Alpha and wondered why the IRDA
drivers are not included into the Alpha configuration. After including them
and building the modules everything seemed fine. The modules load OK and the
IRDA utils compile and run fine too.
But as soon as the first IRDA traffic comes through the machine panics. OK,
the drivers were not included for some good reason ;)
But someone must have excluded them.
What I would like to know now is who first ran into troubles with IRDA on
Alpha and had them removed? Are there any starting points to look at?
Debugging modules is quite difficult (AFAIK) so it would be nice to have
some staring point from where to go on. Wouldn't IRDA support for Alpha be
nice? I think so...
Thanks for any hints!
