I was having the same problem on my AS800, it seems for some reason that only
the first flag was being acknowledged. A work around is to
boot dka400 -fl i
then aboot will prompt you for the rest a little later:
/kernels/generic.gz root=/dev/scd0 expert text load_ramdisk=1
This is off of page 51 of the Red Hat Alpha 6.0 addendum, and it worked for
me. Hope it is of some help.
