Recently I had alphaBIOS v 5.7 on my system an LX
and redhat 6.2 installed.
I have a soundblaster 16 VIBRA PNP
6.2 and kernel 2.2.15 seemed to do the auto probe of
the ISA bus quite nice and sound worked excellent
enter FreeBSD(dun.. dun. dun.....!)
I decided to install freeBSD on one disk and linux on
the other... This necessitated me to flash SRM, as the
LX is only a half-flash machine...
I have version 5.3-3 or SRM currently with aboot 0.7
and
now with redhat 6.2 and the same kernel config my
sound card doesn't get auto probed... why ?
It seems that I have two options:
1. hard code the settings for IRQ, DMA and the like
for my sound card. this is a pain.
2. Run with my tail between my legs back to
AlphaBIOS/milo....
Does SRM support less BIOS emulation than alphaBIOS?
Can anyone suggest what to do to get the card working
under SRM?
TIA
Greg Meno
