Change your boot string to:
boot dka400 -fi /kernels/generic.gz -fl "root=/dev/scd0 text"

Subject: Red Hat 6.2 install on AlphaServer 400
I'm trying to install Red Hat 6.2 on a Digital AlphaServer 400.
I use the SRM to boot the installation program from de CD-ROM
( boot dka400 -fi /kernels/generic.gz -fl root=/dev/scd0 ).
The installation goes well ( kernel load, hardware detection, ... )
until the starting of the X. I get the gray background and the
cross mouse pointer but the installation stops and there are
no error messages in the consoles.
I tried the installation with an ATI Mach64 and a S3 Virge DX
video cards and the result is the same.
Someone knows whatīs wrong?
Another question. How can I use the text mode install? The
installation process starts automatically and I canīt pass
any parameter to the setup program.
I read a similar question about RH6.2 and an AlphaStation200 and
I tried to pass the "text" argument in the SRM boot command but
I donīt know whatīs the correct syntax to do it.
Thanks a lot.
