According to the manual, the 12 MB memory modules only works in the
VX41 and VX42 models of the UDB, not in the VX40[*]. In addition they have
to be in slot 0 and 1. In all other machines or slots these modules
are recognized as 8 MB.
[*] The VX40 is the model with the soldered in 166MHz CPU
