Greeting Folks,
I am having s strange problem compiling the kernel 2.2.5-16.
The kernel that got installed with RH6.0 works fine. Since
I need some more features I have tried to recompile the kernel,
10 times till now with various combinations or "make config"
options but everytime my kernel boot fine but in my virtual
console, keyboard does not work, neither does the mouse!!!

I did notice that I get "keyboard timeout" in the bootup messages?

Also, strangely even telneting into the box does not produce the
  login screen/prompt?

Can someone please tell me what is going on or what might be going on?

One thing the system *always* wants to read the
/boot/System.map-2.2.5-16 instead of the symbolically linked
  /boot/System.map??

The machine is an AlphaStation 600 5/266. Here are the combinations
  that I have tried:

  config_experimental (yes and no)
  PTY (yes)
  VGA console (yes)
  PC Hardware (yes)
  Framebuffer (yes and no)

  ---
I have not seen *any* keyborad options. Can someone who has compiled
the kernel for an as600 e-mail the ".config" file?

  Thanks in advance
  Mo
