RE: Soundblaster?

For $20 it is hard to beat the Open Sound Systems tools. They support Alpha
Linux systems with a number of sound cards and their package is down
loadable for a free 30 day trial. Take a look at their
http://www.opensound.com/oss.html web site.

The package installed, found and configured my sound card without any
problem. I did find it necessary to build a new kernel. After installing
the RedHat 5.2 kit the default kernel did not have loadable driver support.
Also note that it is important NOT to include sound support in your build.

The problem is the pnp issue. I can't find cards without pnp very
easily. MY distibutor doesn't carry them. I didn't even know they made
any of the new ones without pnp.
