valid boot block not present

At the end of the installation of RH 6.2 on an Alpha Station 200 it
looks like an attempt is made to create a boot block on the hard drive
but a message appears stating that abootconf is not found on /dev/sda.
When I try to boot from the hard drive SRM reports that there isn't a
valid boot block. Does anyone know of a fix for this or a way to get
aboot on the hard drive? Thanks, Phil
