Hi,
Iam trying to install Redhat5.2 on an AS255/300 System for the first
time.
With Mr.Jason Blakey(thanks) I could install and reboot from floppy. I
did the way
he suggested. But now I want to create the kernel (vmlinux) . I have
a file
vmlinux.gz in my root (/) directory. I would like to boot from my
Hard disk sda1
afterwards. I can not do the following opearation as Mr.Blakey
suggested:
cp /boot/vmlinux-x.x.x /vmlinux since I donot have the directory
'vmlinux-x.x.x '
and the file vmlinux in that directory.
What I have todo now to create the vmlinux file?(just uncompress
vmlinux.gz?)
But I donot have this tool at present on the machine.
I have installed Linux from Redhat5.2 CD.
I tried to unzip this file(gunzip) and tried to boot the system from
Hard disk.
after doing the following:
set bootdef_dev "dka0" (I have only 2 partions root and swap)
set boot_file "l/vmlinux"
set boot_osflags "root=/dev/sda1"
Then I got "aboot" as prompt after writing :"l/vmlinux :" file not
found.
aboot>
Any help will be appreciated.
regards,
Kumar
