I had a lot of problems with 2.2.8 - 2.2.10 as well...
so I stuck with 2.2.7 for quite some time... however,
when I saw the optimistic message of a member of this
list regarding 2.2.11.. I gave it a try, and it's been
working flawlessly since I first booted up 2.2.11. In
fact, mtv doesn't crash my X anymore... which was a
bizzare problem I had with 2.2.7.

As a usual test, I typically recompile gcc-2.95
with make -j without arguments.. this can bring my
load up to about 50.... this didn't crash anything...
though X was very slow.... My machine is a
PWS500a/256MB/AHA3940UW... I suppose different
hardware will have different results.

BY THE WAY... does anyone know if I can upgrade the L3
cache on the motherboard from 2MB to 4MB? And if so,
where can I buy the parts?
