what kind of NIC do you have in the Alpha (specifically)?
I've seen problems with the DE500 clones made by other vendors. They kinda
1/2 work, but not well enough to bootp / mop from. Then again, if you're
running a true DE500 / Intel it's not the NIC.

Subject: BOOTP ???
Problem: I have an Intel DHCP server running stock RH 7.0. I want it to
serve up an Alpha boot image to my DS20/E so it can act as a diskless
client.
Running SRM 5.9
The SRM on the Alpha sends the BOOTP request.
The Intel machine responds with the appropriate IP address.
The Alpha then sends the TFTP request for the boot file. I can see the
filename is correct on the display.
The Intel machine starts a TFTP process to service the request.
The Alpha hangs waiting. Either the TFTP client is listening on the wrong
port for the answer, or there is some bigger issue between Intel and Alpha.
Any ideas?
thanks,
warren
