Hi
This is most likely a hardware problem. The Compaq video adapters had a
BIOS that searches for the Compaq pc's BIOS. They will work in VGA mode,
but trying to switch to any extended mode will deactivate the adapter if
there is no Compaq pc BIOS.
This is a BIG pain in the rear! I have the same EISA adapter you are
using, and it will only work in a Compaq machine.
