First of all we should know the target platform.
My following statements apply to PC164UX (Ruffian).

No.

My starting point was RH 5.2 with several upgrades (glibc-2.1,...).

I took the latest MILO image from alphalinux.org which was build agains
2.0.36 if I am right. I failed to build MILO against 2.2.5

I made several modules but tulip.o is the only one I am using until now. I
am not entirely happy with the tulip driver (0.90q). I have to force
100Mbit with 'options' and force full duplex with dip switch on the hub.

I am currently in the process to solve a problem with 'hwclock'
(util-linux-2.9o). At the moment there are several workarounds. Easiest is
use 'clock' from an older util-linux package and disable 'hwclock'.
knfsd isn't working until now.
