You need scsi generic. If you have a standard kernel, try insmod sg. (sg
is the name of the module for scsi generic) Otherwise, make it as a module
or add it to the kernel.
Also, cdparanoia is picky about the device. Try running it as root, and try
passing it (via -d) various devices that correspond to the cd. cdparanoia
also has a -s option that will do an exhaustive search for your drive.
I have gotten it to work...
