BUT: as I said, 2.2.5-ac6 refused to boot on my machine!

I can't help you with upgrading, since this is my FIRST RedHat
installation! AND as I said, I am running not plain RedHat 5.2 but
upgraded various packages (i.e. glibc-2.1.1-1) and the kernel.
