Mine is a DEC 21143 on a Samsung UX Motherboard. At the beginning the
connection was sometimes lost. '/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart' or
something like that restored connection.

I than upgraded to tulip-0.90q and made an entry in /etc/conf.modules:
options tulip.o debug=1 options=16,0
to force the first adapter to use 100 Mbit (sometimes I had only 10 Mbit).
Also full duplex doesn't work all the time. I now dip switched it on the
hub.
This configuration seem to work (since yesterday or so).
