For pop3 I've just stuck with the UW server on my Alpha, simply because I
have had no luck whatsoever making Cucipop work. This *really* frustrates
me, because cucipop is so much faster than qpopper or UW pop3. The binary
is also just a fraction of the size of the others as well. Here's a size
comparison between cucipop and UW on one of my Intel linux boxes:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 32704 Jan 20 17:59 /usr/sbin/ipop3d
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root mail 473652 Jan 1 22:34 /usr/sbin/ipop3d.orig
I've asked a couple of times on the list about whether anyone's gotten
cucipop to work, but never got a single response. :-(
For smtp I've had no problems with Sendmail, although I switched to
Postfix (aka VMailer, aka IBM Secure Mailer).
I doubt you'll have much luck looking for a single, "full-service" mail
solution with everything rolled into it. There are obviously products out
there, but if they say they support Linux it's almost certainly just the
Intel platform.
