It's surprising that it got far enough to see that; the two platforms have
quite different interrupt delivery mechanisms, and the built-in PCI-PCI bridge
on NORITAKE requires some special code to deal with it.

Does the console problem happen on *both* machines? Did it occur with the
pre-built kernel found on gatekeeper on the NORITAKE?
Both MIKASA and NORITAKE have built-in VGAs, I believe; at least the MIKASA
has a Cirrus 5424 on the mobo. So there should be no need to compile in the
TGA support, though I wouldn't have thought it would hurt anything... :-\
You could try plugging in another VGA, just be sure to jumper the onboard
VGA to disable it (on MIKASA, it was at top-left of mobo, not on the CPU
daughtercard).
