em86 failures

When trying to run any Linux/Intel binary on my Alpha box, I am getting
lots of these:

applix(22068): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d712 28 27
applix(22068): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d70e 28 1
applix(22068): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d712 28 27
applix(22068): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d70e 28 1

or:

yd(22095): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d712 28 27
yd(22095): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d70e 28 1
yd(22095): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d712 28 27
yd(22095): unaligned trap at 0000000000000024: 000000004001d70e 28 1

Except slowness (AlphaPC164LX with 600MHz CPU is much slower with
Acrobat than AMD K6 200), this is only visible problem with em86 here.

I have clean 2.0.30 tree (not RedHat 4.2 stock one) patched with patches
from ftp.digital.com, with em86 RPMs from same site, under .../v0.2/...
Except few added/deleted RPMs, it is almost clean install-all RedHat 4.2.

Any hints on this, and is it common to have slower running apps as I
have? I remember reading about emulated NT/Intel binaries running on
slower Alphas than mine, but faster than on PPro/200.

TIA,
dragisha
