Here's how I do it:
1) mke2fs /dev/fd0
2) mount /mnt/floppy
3) cp vmlinux.gz /mnt/floppy
4) umount /mnt/floppy
5) e2writeboot /dev/fd0 /boot/bootlx
That works if you have the Red Hat 4.0 aboot installed (or aboot installed
in the same way I have it set up).
