Someone else mentioned replacing the keyboard controller. On the
UDB/Multia, the keyboard controller is soldered in; replacing it
is not trivial.

That is the wrong connector. The 15-pin "D" connector is for thickwire
Ethernet. There should be two 25-pin "D" connectors on the back; the
female one is for the printer port, and the male one is for the serial
port.
As for warranty/service/whatnot, unfortunately that's between you and
the seller... and it appears as though you're going to have a difficult
time getting service through the seller. Your only other alternative
will be to get the system serviced by Digital; this is possible, but
of course you'll have to pay for it.
