Yes I have this strange sound to. I was listening to my drive 520MB
Toshiba last night and it emits this sound aprox. 5 seks after disk
activities finish, i.e. ls then wait 5sek then comes the sound. (ls can
of course be replaced by any comand accessing the disk). I don't think
it is
spin down because the disk definitly is spinning. I was more thinkin
that it
is "park heads sound" (if parking heads has a sound 8-)), but I might be
compleatly wrong, and probably I am 8-).
