ide on udb alpha?

after being somewhat irked that my 340MB udb turned out to actually be
the 3 1/2", no pci expansion version, i noticed that there seem to be
a curious set of pins next to the floppy connector. the multia service
info doc has a picture of the intel udb with its ide hard disk plugged
into these pins. i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not this
ide device was usable on an alpha.
