I am trying to install my new Micropolis 3243AV HD and I have problems:
I partitioned it with WinNT 4.0 (128Mb Swap, 2943Mb Linux and 1024Mb NT),
reboot in to Linux (Red Hat 3.0.3), use cfdisk /dev/sdc and changed
the types for the swap and linux partitions, do a "mkswap /dev/sdc1",
then "mke2fs -c /dev/sdc2" and the process hangs.
The disk is connected to an NCR53C810 Scsi controller and the
Micropolis seems to work well under NT (I tried to format the 3
partitions under NT). I had bad blocks. I am using the NCR53C8xx driver.
What is the geometry of the disk ? Cfdisk says 64 heads, 32 sectors
and 4095 Cylinders, is it correct?
The geometry of a SCSI disk is not a property of the disk but
a fiction used by certain operating systems. It is not used
by Linux.
