As a side note, how come when I apply the AXP diffs (even to a
just-untarred source tree with a matching version) I end up with a few
files in a "386" directory at the same level as my linux directory.
Specifically they seem to be files that don't exist under my regular
linux tree and they include things in arch/alpha/kernel,
include/asm-alpha, include/linux, and drivers/char. I just move the things
over to the correct spot and all seems to be well, but it makes me wonder.
That is because patch-2.1 is stupid about the location where
new files are created. Get patch-2.1b from
ftp.win.tue.nl:/pub/linux/gnu-fixed/patch-2.1b.tar.gz
and things will work correctly.
