Me too. I don't know if you have noticed but there is starting to be
a small but significant amount of alpha-related traffic on the other
comp.os.linux groups lately, and reduction of slightly off-topic
traffic on those would be a good but very secondary result.

The suggestion about "AXP" is good, I share the fear that folks
would think "alpha" meant early-developmental. OTOH a lot of
people (especially newcomers) might not recognize AXP right off.
Possibly "DEC-Alpha" would be more clear?

I've seen this before, people agree to form a group and then spend
weeks arguing about what to call it. I have seen votes where several
names are suggested and the one that gets the most support wins.
