This configuration looks fine - it should work.

Have you tried adjusting any of the input level "devices"?

When I first started playing with the MSS on the UDB, I was using "aumix"
in text mode. It presents a couple of "Line" inputs, the reduction of one
of which used to get rid of some distortion or extra noise that I was hearing.
See if that might help.
