NEC sells refurbished SCSI triple-speed external CD-ROM drives for
about $80. I bought one to attach to a Multia (UDB) system and it
works fine. It's a little slow by today's standards, but you can't
really beat the price.

sorry. know this is kind of a hardware question, but i am asking it so
that i might install redhat on my udb soon. can anyone recommend an
external cd-rom drive for the thing? working with sgis in the past, i know
that some systems can be really picky about such things (normally in the
aims of selling more hardware, i think). thanks.

also, in a related question: i have seen some redhat discs (2 or 4 disc
set, i think) at micro center here in atlanta. they say they contain
"complete linux-alpha archives" and they cost like $17 or $19. what's the
deal with that? will these work for me? thanks again.
