I can't seem to use fdisk to partition the disk. The first time I
ever got far enough to use fdisk it worked, but every other time after
that it dies with the error "/dev/sda: can't seek". It also prints
some kernel messages (which appear in the log on vc3) "unaligned
trap". I don't have them up right now but when I see them again I'll
send them to the list.
is it true that since I have the ARC console I can't use BSD labeling
(minlabel)? that does seem to work, but the machine just crashes a
little while afterwards..

Since the net wasn't working, I couldn't nfs mount the installation
tree. to my surprise, there was no cat on the root disk, nor any
other program that I could use to look at the proc files.

It isn't set up at all, yet... :)
